Kennedy got us into that war and Johnson escalated it - on false pretenses. Johnson also won reelection by promising to reduce US involvement while painting Goldwater as a dangerous rightwing war-monger, then escalated further - to over 200k US troops the very next year and over a half million by the time Nixon took office in 1969. Nixon, the right-winger, ended the war. You were almost right the other day when you said "all I know is ..."
