Smithee, I think it would be a hoot if Jimmy Webb reads SI.

It's really not all that far fetched. I learned that a world-famous orchestra conductor subscribes to my Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier listserv because one owns him.

I wonder how many people realize how many songs the prolific Mr. Webb wrote which were made famous by singers other than himself.

As for "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," in years gone by, I had occasion to change the title, but only a little. You see, I used to drive through Phoenix at least twice a year in the days before it had a freeway. These drives usually, by necessity, took place at rush hour. My version was "By the Time I Get THROUGH Phoenix." I had some fun with the actual lyrics, as well, while driving through Phoenix. Some are even repeatable in polite company. <g> - Holly
