Re: "but the test was BS. what about abortion, guns, smoking where you want."

Far from 'BS', I believe it is very accurate at measuring what it's designed to measure: attitudes (economic and personal) about Authoritarianism/Statism ('love' of Big Government) and traditional economic issues along a 'left/right' political scale.

But... NO ONE TEST (especially such a SHORT one) can measure EVERYTHING relating to political views!

I believe the World's Shortest Political Quiz is VERY GOOD at what it does... but you do raise an interesting point. I agree that most every test I've run into fail to give much weight to questions of RELIGIOUSITY.

(As a LIBERTARIAN, I don't believe that the GOVERNMENT should be involved much in telling people how to live their own lives, or in restricting what people can do. As long as it does not hurt another, I don't believe personal actions should be subject to government authority... perhaps you disagree, however. Perhaps you would WANT a BIGGER, more POWERFUL and INTRUSIVE government to regulate what people do? If so, that would be an opinion of yours with which I'd disagree.)

Re: "Businesses being allow to do what they want."

(Pretty sure that question was already covered very well in the World's Smallest Political Quiz.)

Perhaps you would like to suggest a different test that gets more at questions of RELIGIOUSITY and such? If so, I'd be very interested in seeing and taking the test.

Meanwhile... I'd like to recommend another short test that I believe is very good at catagorizing political beliefs (the 'Political Compass' test). Likely this one will show some CLEAR DIFFERENCES between our two sets of beliefs, and CLEARLY separate the Economic Left/Right scale in your mind from the North'South Libertarian/Authoritarian scale:

==============================================

Welcome to The Political Compass™.
There's abundant evidence for the need of it. The old one-dimensional categories of 'right' and 'left' , established for the seating arrangement of the French National Assembly of 1789, are overly simplistic for today's complex political landscape. For example, who are the 'conservatives' in today's Russia? Are they the unreconstructed Stalinists, or the reformers who have adopted the right-wing views of conservatives like Margaret Thatcher ?
On the standard left-right scale, how do you distinguish leftists like Stalin and Gandhi? It's not sufficient to say that Stalin was simply more left than Gandhi. There are fundamental political differences between them that the old categories on their own can't explain. Similarly, we generally describe social reactionaries as 'right-wingers', yet that leaves left-wing reactionaries like Robert Mugabe and Pol Pot off the hook.
That's about as much as we should tell you for now. After you've responded to the following propositions during the next 3-5 minutes, all will be explained. In each instance, you're asked to choose the response that best describes your feeling: Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Agree or Strongly Agree. At the end of the test, you'll be given the compass, with your own special position on it....
