Here's evidence Ed Gillespie was Enron's lobbyist during the 30 billion dollar ripoff of the West Coast, and used Enron's money to run 7 million worth of TV ads which promoted Bush-Cheney's energy plan (deregulation, so no rules against gouging, and no enforcement of it) and blamed the gouging on Grey Davis and democrats, who Bush claimed had "no energy plan" though gasoline was half the price it is now under Clinton.

citizen.org;

Shortly after Gillespie was finished running the big lying campaign of Enron's, Bush promoted him to head the RNC, when if there were any justice, Gillespie would be gtting life in prison for helping in a 30 billion ripoff scheme, then the biggest white collar crime in US history.

Also, on many occasions Bush-Cheney claimed there was nothing illegal going on in California, and that it was merely market forces, and they again blamed democrats. This was also the first time the Patroleum Institute every became partisan, calling out for total deregulkation of the energy business, a plan which Bush, Cheney and Lay made their secret #1 goal.
