The ONLY reason the HMO's are involved is because they're big campaign contributors too.

But wouldn't they be looking to leverage their negotiating power against the big pharmaceuticals in order to enhance the profitability of their HMO operations?

Because providing expensive drugs to their patients would definitely impact their bottom line.

Please show me the logic of why HMOs would desire high drug prices?
