C'G re: [" The idea that the buck is about to launch a major rally strikes me as absurd at this point."]

Well so much for underlining it...or, reading it twice (vbg).

"Now read this twice...and I'll even "underline" it for emphasis so people won't just read and hear what they want to hear":

"This is not somehting that is going to happen overnight...but, the script is being written as we speak"...

"The Bond Market is hated and Cash (USD) is Trash..."

*****************************************************************************************************

"not something that is going to happen overnight" ...but, is on my radar screen, because I LOVE anything that is this universally hated....yes, even Fiat Funny Money.

When, not if... the USD will rally substantially.

Will it be 3 mos, 6 mos, or 2 years from now ?

It matters not.

It only matters when a "discrepancy between price and risk" develops...and that discrepancy is begining to form.

Is there a single market or media pundit, economist, market maven or trader, that hasn't already written the obit for the buck?

The catalyst on the horizon that may dramatically change the fortunes of the USD is the November 2008 U.S. Presidential Election.

The primary campaigns are now less than 12 months away from heating up and we have the mid-terms in 6 months, in which control of both the Senate and the House may change hands.

Sooner, rather than later -- the market will begin to price in this eventuality.

More importantly vis a vis the "Trillions trump Billions" mantra -- is that the "Old Guard, Old Monied" Republican leadership is now turning on the Bush/Big Oil/Cowboy Cartel in droves...

The CIA hitched it's wagon to a Kerry Presidential win in 2004, because they know the Bush Cartel for what it is... (we should have listened).

There is now a near mutinous revolt internally in the Pentagon & U.S. Intelligence Agencies against the Bush Cartel.

And the old guard isn't going to let a bunch of Big Oil Cowboy's bring the house of cards crashing down.

Let's hope & pray that America still has -- "a few good men"... true patriots -- instead of poseurs who primp in "mission accomplished" photo opps aboard AirCraft Carriers.... true patriots who won't sell off America's infrastructure and national security to the highest bidder and who won't mortgage our childrens future while lining their pockets and that of their cronies.

No country has ever successfully depreciated their currency to economic prosperity...and there are still a few "Trillions" anchored to a prosperous America...

"Trillions trump Billions" ...and all Speculations end the same way...

Without question we are in a new multi-decade era of global growth led by China and India....as we were in the Tech & Internet explosion of 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and into the crash of March 2000.

The story of the explosive growth in global technology and the internet is still ongoing...the speculation just got ahead of the story...

Some things never change...and all speculations end the same way.

Is the speculation in commodities also now ahead of the China/India story ?

...some things never change.
