Klare, Michael T. Director, Hampshire College, Five College Program in Peace and World Security Studies

Mr. Klare discussed his book Resource Wars: The New Landscape of Global Conflict, published by Metropolitan Books. In the book he predicts limited resources such as oil and water will increasingly be the source of global conflicts. In an age when energy consumption is increasing, more and more nations see resources as a commodity to fight for in order to ensure access to available supplies. Mr. Klare suggests adoption of a new philosophy based on shared resources and collaboration. After his remarks, he answered questions from members of the audience.
