It's ok if everything is a political issue, as long as political issues are handled with more composure. It's not the politics per se, it's the demonization and demagoguery that is riding tandem with politics, and I don't think it's fair to assume it has to ride tandem. We could have more reasonable and rational political discussions, we just don't happen to have those now.

You and I shouldn't have to do that much work. Agree, but the reality is different, and there is little we can do about it. In any event, it's good for the mind to engage in independent analysis. I blame the folks who turn everything into a political issue and dumb it down while turning up the volume in the process. And the people who encourage them. You can be an apologist for them if you like but I'm not buying it. Watch it, lady, "apologist" is a fighting word, just ask Cole. vbg. No, my view is a bit different. I think we have an independent obligation to be skeptical and to ask the right questions. I'm not interested in being spoon-fed because you never know who is holding the spoon or what it may have been dipped into. And as far as those who turn up the political volume, eh, so what? Most of these idiots will self-destruct anyway. They don't bother me yet I also think they have every right to do what they do just as we have every right to ignore them. I don't worship at anyone's altar.
