EROEI is the amount of energy you get out of a substance compared to the amount of energy you put in to obtain it.
H has an EROEI of 0.5:1.


That's what I thought you might be factoring into that equation.

But the current sources of Hydrogen, as I previously mentioned, are primarily extraction from other fossil fuels, such as natural gas.

Thus, the EROEI your citing is based upon CURRENT extraction technology which has to include the fact that a costly fossil fuel, NOT the splitting of water molecules by electrolysis into its component atoms.

What I would like to see is the conversion effciency stat based SOLELY upon cost of electricy necessary to undertake the electrolysis and the comparison to the extracted amount of energy (Hydrogen).

Thus, we have to look at the cost of a nuclear pebble bed power plant, and the amount of hydrogen that this plant could extract from H2O.

That's the ONLY true measure, IMO, of the efficiency of converting nuclear generated electricity into hydrogen.
