Oh for pete's sake...those 1900 to 2006 comparisons are ridiculous. Go read Ben Stein's NY Times column from Sunday. Taxes are too low!! You must LOVE the Bush administration! They seem to want to cut every tax (that affects rich people anyway), and BORROW all the money it takes to fund current government operations. They don't seem interested in cutting spending - only taxes. Do you think that's better than "tax and spend"? I'm with you that the government is bloated and largely unnecessary. But it does fund SOME necessary things. Are you an anarchist? What is the government you would approve of? Myself, I think America could lose 90% of it's military and not even miss it, to start. We live in one of the geographically safest countries on earth. Our neighbors are Canada and Mexico! Not exactly hostile threats..
