A little hysteria is good for people. It drives action. I would like to see more action in this area- directed to research, at the moment. If we accept that there is a time frame of centuries (from scientists who were predicting an ice age just a few years ago), I think that's just nuts. Would you buy a car let alone a theory of climate change from these folks? Not me. I don't accept anything at the moment, and to accept anything as a given at this time is (imo) foolishness. So the hysteria, imo, is a far better thing than complacency would be because it keeps the ball rolling better.

So while the 20 year theory is not "better", hysteria is better than complacency (in my book).
