Nixon escalated the Vietnam War and kept it going for five long years. It was Nixon who ran against the anti-war movement, villainized and demonized it. True LBJ started the war, but at least he had the decency to bow out after he realized what a collosal blunder he'd made. Nixon did not, and spread the war into neighboring countries.

The years Nixon was in charge, 1968-1971 especially, were some of the worse and mst violent years of the war. Those were also the years when it became painfully clear the war was unwinnable, self-defeating and based on a bunch of lies. But did Nixon move to end it? Nope. Not until the 1972 election did he talk about peace and ending the war "with dignity". Nixon defended the lies the war was based on and persecuted Daniel Ellsberg for leaking the Pentagon Papers.

To say Nixon was less responsible than LBJ is nonsense. They both sided with the same cold war mongers and profiteers.
