Goss was fired because he could not get along with Negroponte and the transformation of the CIA as envisioned by the new Intel Czar.

I don't credit Goss with that much integrity. I think he'd gladly provide the cherry-picked intel needed to fearmonger RE Iran - after all, he was hand picked by the chimp Ceasar.

I think Goss's main function was to clean the CIA of the truth-telling leakers that were casting doubt on the Bush Iraq invasion rationale. Maybe he just wasn't good enough at it - the leaks continue, and the intel failure at the CIA is ongoing.
