Could it be because 10% of a $50 pill is less than 5% of a $200 pill?

Absolutely.. when it comes to an HMO billing to government, or a client.

But AS I UNDERSTAND IT, when I paid for my health insurance, the HMO is sucking up the cost for any drugs I need, minus any co-payment.

Thus, it would NOT behoove them to overpay for the drugs it buys to supply to its customers.

But you'd DEFINITELY BE CORRECT if that cost was being passed on to someone else.
