(and the HMO *never* pays what their percentage of total costs would have been).

It's hard to imagine them being profitable with all the extra overhead the whole concept entails if they did not do this kind of thing. Anybody can see that if they think about it.

I honestly do not know what it will take to reform health care in this country though. It's badly needed, but a non negligible part of Congress still thinks the overarching Noble Cause is overturning Roe vs Wade.

Ask some of your doctor friends in hospitals and they will fill you in...btw, in case you are thinking this volume discount to HMOs is legit, a friend of mine who had no insurance got a $340k bill after her pregnancy.

WHAT??!!! 340K??!!!! Truly a "golden child"..

I think maybe that's the best case I've ever seen made for adoption.. or at least condoms.. ;0)
