elevate Darwin to the level of a prophet

It is no accident that Darwin is buried next to Issac Newton.
He along with Galileo, Copernicus, Archimedes and Einstein always end up in the top ten lists of great scientists. Of course all the great scientists were to some extent at the right place at the right time when ideas were flowing.

Those with a scientific bent would be passionately defending Copernicus view of the cosmos except for one thing. Nobody is seriously challenging that view. In time nobody will seriously challenge natural selection either.

In the mean time there are at least two events which will supercharge the discussion in the near future. One will be when some creatures DNA sequence will be built from scratch, and cloned into the creature thereby bringing life to non-life in the laboratory. The next will be when DNA sequences are placed into some lifeform which changes the lifeform into a new species. The resulting bruhaha will bring general insite into natural selection and it's mechanisms.
