I think 99.9 percent of people would agree that some things are better done by government (either directly, or in many cases with government funding or support) and some things are better done by the private sector. Even libertarians want some government. Very few people are anarchists, and perhaps even fewer see no role at all for non-government directed or funded efforts. I doubt Tench wants to have roads built by "one property owner at a time".

The exact mix can however be the subject of rather strong disagreement.
