Despite looking like crazy, their resource base is depleting 28% , annually, for 5 years. That ain't good.

But that's a misrepresentative stat if the SEC is not permitting oil companies to reflect other sources of oil supply such as tar sands or even oil shale.

IMO, companies should be able to reflect whatever sources of oil they possess, so long as they also reflect cost of production, subtracting is as liability to their asset figures, or just adjusting down those asset values to incorporate exploitation costs.
