If the US military leaves than I think the security situation will get worse. Rebuilding and political solutions are of course crucial but you have to secure the country. I don't think any likely "international peace keeping force" is likely to be up to the job. The history of such forces suggest that they can monitor a peace but usually not create one by force, or enforce one against parties that don't watch peace. Arguably the Balkans might be an exception, but those operations where under NATO control not the UN or some multi-national Arab group, and they included US forces. Other exceptions could probably be found, but in most of them the warring forces where weak and/or exhausted. I feel that it should not be restricted to NATO but also include Arab armies, armies from Muslim countries such as Pakistan, Indonesia etc.
