Agree. I have DirecTV & waiting for their MPEG-4 HD DVR to be released, which now looks like late Fall/Pre-Xmas. In the meantime I'm relaying upon my stand alone Replay. Though the Replay is completely analog, the pic quality is still way better than recordings from SD. I would rate the HD quality of my Replay recordings much closer to HD (1080i or 720p) than to 540p (DVD progressive quality), so the "HD sacrifice" I'm making right now is minimal. Unfortunately, the future of TV is going to be the integrated box u have in u'r home, which IMHO makes stand alone machines a bit more valuable going forward provided the loss of pic quality across analog connections is minimal.
