I think I understand what you mean. French is fluid, but I love how logical their essay writers are. I wish we saw more of that rhetorical training in this country.

French is a state of mind as much as language.

I think this is true of most any other culture - when you go live in France, it's as if Everything You Know Is Wrong.

I can't translate between the languages, but can use French in kind of parallel universe mode when I'm in the country. The writing system is the same, so many words in English are "merely" mispronounced French, it's so close yet so far when you really try to grasp the mind set. It's got to be the same in all different cultures really.
