re: If you think government can spend your hard-earned money better than you can...

In many cases they can.

The laughter curve is creating huge deficits. In essence, the government is saying we can spend the next generations money (plus interest) better than they can.

It's not ethical or "conservative", it's morally weak and it's a disgrace. How much debt would you saddle your kids with when you die? Would you sacrifice their prosperity for yours?

That's what we are doing. They have to pay back the debt you are spending.

Like I said, the Laffer curve is a fiction .. a visual slight of hand to distract. Government revenue has more than three variables and therefore cannot be mapped to a parabola like Laffer would like to pretend.

Certainly the government can spend better than I do, they can get economy of scale. That doesn't mean they will. The government can also stimulate economic activity by keeping more people in a situation where they have disposable income instead of just hand-to-mouth income. Disposable income acts as a multiplier to economic activity (up to a point) and ultimately causes more revenue than does a tax cut which just helps concentrate the disposable income to a few.

If you believe the Laffer curve then a place like Finland should be an economic wreck. Instead their government makes an attempt to efficiently provide services that American have to provide individually (and with limited information). Their taxes are high but their expenses are low.
