The grand design of the neocons calls for a perpetuation of US rule and dominance in the oil-rich Middle East. The violence has put those designs in jeopardy.

What the article very cleverly avoided is the discussion of a three way Iraqi split; a Shia nation, a Kurdish nation and a Sunni nation. Just what Sen. Biden said.

Iran would back the split since they gain a small Shia nation to act as a buffer. However the split would be a serious blow to the grand design of the neocons. The split would be unwelcome news for Turkey also due to their sizeable Kurdish population.

The US needs to be honest brokers by serving the interest of the US instead of those of the neocons and Turkey.
