David Brooks today says that Hillary's economic plan is remarkably centrist. He also says Republican think tank economic guru sensing too much pain for lower income workers because of globalization and immigration along with bigger govt because of boomers is proposing that payroll (fica) tax be reduced or eliminated while raising tax percentages on higher brackets to offset the amount of the payroll tax reduction. According to brooks it is becoming demographically necessary to alter the way we look at things.
For the republicans he sees a new group of accomodators and folks with bipartisan alliance mentality such as mccain, rudy and romney who are leading the pack. For the democrats he sees centrists like hillary and warner defeating the leftists for control of the party.
