Of course they dislike us... but having a puppet nuclear power in their back yard insures that they will sell us their oil.

Ideological? Give me a break. It's strategic.

I agree with you Elroy. I think our support of Israel gains the support of American Jews and apocolyptic evangelicals for domestic politicians, and is of absolutely no benefit whatsoever to America - quite the opposite, supporting Israel is harmful to the global interests of the United States.
