MD, A very good question and one I shall ponder.

There are many things espoused by our Founding Fathers at a time they could not have foreseen what and to where technology would bring us.

A side note: For various reasons, I have not boarded a commercial airplane since 1979. I find trains, buses, boats, and automobiles do quite nicely for me. Should you buy a ticket and board a train or a bus, I think you would faint in shock at the absence of "security" measures. - Holly

It’s a little cynical, but I think most of the discussion regarding governmental authority is largely academic since I believe the government does pretty much what it wants to regardless.

I wonder if he'd consider privacy of overseas phone calls to suspected enemies a matter of liberty.

I make foreign calls on business every now and then involving a dozen different countries. If any of those calls are monitored or in a nsa database somewhere I couldn't care less.
