talking about inflation and deflation is very difficult.it is a relationship between the supply of money, the velocity it circulates and production costs across a wide range of asset classes.
clasic deflation occurrs because of hoarding cash (read gold silver copper).
i use the word hoarding in the sence that monies are not invested, but taken out of circulation,ie being under the matterass and its velocity being reduced to 0.
i do not believe there will ever be a shortage of fiat monies.
result stagflation in general and deflation across a range of asset classes bubbles.imho
