Do you think the US supports Taiwan to get better access to mainland Chinese labor? Do you think the US supported West Germany during the Cold War to get better access to Soviet oil? Did the US support anti-Castro rebels in the early 1960's to get better access to Cuban cigars? Your whole premise is nuts! I was reading what Elroy posted to you....see above. In a sense he made your argument inadvertently. Haven't we argued that what motivates the US now is not what motivated us back then. Then in fact, back then, we did things altruistically......now its all about the oil. I don't think this is what Elroy intended but in reality it is a very probable takeaway.
