AMD will continue to increase its share and, more important, profits through the summer...the impact on AMD's business of the ongoing changes in the rules of engagement between it an intel are profound and increasingly beneficial

Doug "Hector effectively saying "No" in a very roundabout way" I think you are misrepresenting. Hector indicated they had some plans for a future challenge, w/o going into details. My guess is that AMD plans a quad core challenge in the future, presumably next year.

FWIW- I thought Henri's interview was upbeat and encouraging. I expect some nice surprises on June 1.

FWIW 2- Hector's performance with Cramer was weak, but Cramer's comments were reasonably positive given that he currently is down on the sector.

Your interpretation/spin on recent comments by AMD management just doesn't reconcile with the following recent comments by AMD management:

"We expect this new product family will set a precedent for mobile PCs in the same way that AMD Opteron did for servers," said Marty Seyer, corporate vice president and general manager, Microprocessor Business Unit, Computation Products Group, AMD."

techtree.com

"I want to double AMD’s market share within the next three years,” Dirk says."

itp.net

No sense quibling over interpretations. Let's just see what clarity, if any, the next few weeks bring. (I'm guessing INTC takes another HUGE hit in Q2 and that AMD maintains or increases Revshare in each of Q2, Q3 and Q4, now that Chartered, Fab 36, Turion X2's and 65nm DC's are almost ready for introduction, FWIW. I'm also guessing that AMD maintains its gross profit margin in the 55% to 60% zone for the foreseeable future, resulting in a minimum $2.00 eps in 2006) ;-)

Hey anything can happen, but it's HUGELY unlikely that AMD's sky is about to fall, and it's not altogether unlikely that Dell participates in the Turion X2 introduction, thus confirming those rumours a few months ago about Dell/AMD goings on in Taiwan.
