There were educated nazis too. Once someone is able to demonize another group and label them as either sub human or evil, it is easy to kill i am afraid. Arabs and other islamic peoples believe some of the garbage their tyrannical leaders and or crazy clerics believe. Bin Laden uses this effectively to recruit. The WOT will probably never be won until hearts and minds are changed or the folks who believe this bilge are killed. One day our FP may have this stark choice to confront, especially if it seems unlikely re: hearts and minds. Do we give up civilization because we refuse to use all force necessary to stop the barbarians at the gate or do we just give them the keys? Bush tried the hearts and minds approach to some extent and look what it got him.
