My mother, who was born in 1902, used to tell me stories about how she walked 7 miles to and from school, sometimes in snow. I, born in 1943 walked 3 miles to and from high school and 5 miles to and from middle school and even one mile to and from grade school. We thought it was sort of fun, (if it wasnt raining) as many of us walked in a group and bsed the whole way. Kids today ride busses, have to sit still and keep their mouths basically shut, I dont see any FUN in that, is that an improvement? jdn
