Hydrogen fuel must be produced from non-fossil fuels energy. Therein lies the big challenge. A combo of solar, wind and nuclear could do the trick. This is a great challenge for American technology. But it can be done. And once it's done it will be clean, infinite and make oil and gas obsolete as a fuel source. We can still use oil for plastic and lubricants though.

BTW, even Bush agrees with the above statement. He just doesn't do anything about it. Leaving it to future leaders who are not in bed with big oil and polluters.
