Of course it is much easier to pay capital gains taxes on SLV and GLD as the government sends you a little statement.

Converting to physical means one has to do the paperwork oneself. Lets not forget!<vbg>

By the way, if silver is poor mans gold is palladium poor mans platinum? Platinum is rich man's gold. Neither Pt nor Pd have come close to tracking gold and silver the past few months, but there are no ETF vehicles as yet though I hear there is talk. Buy now in anticipation? I do prefer Pd for upside but somehow global supply of 100 tons Pt per year gets me excited (gold being nearly 2000)

(So now, in addition to wondering whether the NSA's giant database holds other info such as who is buying GLD and SLV, and since I have been trolling the web all week and have yet to see a single photo of the alleged millons of ounces SLV and GLD claim to have, it does seem so much safer to mineralize, as you say. One does forgive the opportunity to sell paper gold/silver at the very top of the blowoff though. One would literally have to take physical, self and security to nearest dealer and watch prices in an attempt to capture that moment)
