Bush has done nothing about the border for five years until an election year when his unhappy base of disenchanted wackos decide it's all the Mexicans' fault. Nevermind, Bush-Cheney being the most dishonest and incompetent administration ever, and all the top rightwing congressmen indicted or investigated for corruption. I've been for tougher border control for 30 years but Bush has supported illegal immigration (for the cheap labor) his entire career. I was in Tijuana last year and walked back across the border. There wasn't even anyone there watching. No one even noticed me. The answer isn't the military, it's to double the size of the Border Patrol. Also, most of our military are stuck in Iraq anyway so they're not available. And they need a break.
