In an earlier post it was stated that no "liberal" had responded to the post claiming "proof" that Saddam had tested a nuke. When the "proof" has been shown to be rather absurd you say it makes no difference?

When Clinton initiated military action in Bosnia to prevent a genocidal dictator from killing millions, many right wingers claimed he was acting to divert attention from his domestic troubles. Now you use the same reasoning - the killing of innocents - to support the overthrow of Saddam?

In 2000 Bush promised to bring our troops home from Bosnia, the Sinai and other places where they have were deployed as peacekeepers. "The role of America's military is to fight and win wars, not engage in nation-building." said Bush. Well, the troops are still in Bosnia and the Sinai, and we are engaged in massive nation-building efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Three years after Saddam was evicted and Bush declared "Mission Accomplished" we are spending $5 billion a month while losing 70 soldiers a month in this grand remake of Iraq. At every step, the battle for Falluja, the initial elections, the adoption of a constitution, another election, a new government - we are assured that this step is the key to breaking the back of the insurgency. Yet the toll continues to climb.

Before the war, America controlled 70% of Iraq's air space. Saddam had a corrupt, ineffective army, no navy, no air force and no WMD. The Joint Chiefs testified at the time that Saddam was not a threat. Yet Bush tagged him as a threat worthy of elimination - a threat more serious that Osama bin Laden - and arranged a war to eliminate him - in a war that will cost nearly a trillion dollars and heaven knows how many American and Iraqi lives before it's settled.

Meanwhile North Korea is jumping up and down saying "Look at me!" I have a nuclear bomb! Iran says it is right now going forward with a program to produce weapons-grade uranium - and it doesn't care how much W huffs and puffs and threatens.

Still, Osama sits and laughs, plotting his next attack. Last year 400,000 unidentified people entered this country illegally while homeland security spends billions wiretapping pizza orders. The CIA, which is headquartered in a building bearing the name of George H.W. Bush, has been decimated by mismanagement and corruption brought about by W's political appointees...

We have indeed met the enemy and it is us...
