Brilliant to read!
I've been to Seattle a few times - it's not exactly close, I wish I could have visited this time, but combined pressures of work and baby made it nigh-impossible...
but that post brought it back!

Did you ride the Duck? if not, well, you'll have to visit again just to do that. And visit the Seattle Underground, a bit of preserved old town. Plus of course the bookshop (well, that may be just me.)

geeze coach ...

you did it again!

its exactly the way it happened.
i could smell the coffee, see the
colours, hear the sounds of the
crowds and the buskers and us
laughing.

remember the guy that sounded like
zamfir?

i was transported.

thanks a whole bunch.

Lots of vendors selling flowers…the colors were absolutely stunning. If I had been stoned, I probably would still be there just staring at them.

Hey, I made it out, didn't eye? Just a big Farmer's Market, lad. Go visit the one nearest you. They will appreciate your support. I love going thru FMs.
On the flowers; the 3 east coasters kept marveling about how cheap the flowers were. Like $10 for a bouquet that would cost them $50 @ home. It just seemed normal to me. More or less what the price is here, too.

Great reading what you guys were up to that day...and your view of my town. Nice write up, Altie.

was tempted (the nine-year-old in me) to flick a penny or spit over the railing…

Yes, I believe I was just about 9 when I flicked my gum from up there, and had my first run in with the authorities. That's funny..

A19: Thanks for sharing your Seattle "reports from the field"...I loved the way you described Pike Place Market -- it's a magical place.

pikeplacemarket.org

I used to live in a high rise in the Denny Regrade area in Seattle (in between the Space Needle and Pike Place Market)...It was a nice bachelor pad 17 floors up with a beautiful view of the Olympic mountains and the Puget Sound. Almost every weekend when I was in town I would walk down to Pike Place Market - for people watching, to meet friends, to stock up on some amazing produce, or to visit the original Starbucks...;-)

btw, Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
