RJA,
For Coal there is PVR and NRP. I have had PVR since right after the IPO and it is one of my largest positions. They are mostly coal but since the IPO have acquired some NG properties. Nice steady rising dividend. The stock was real weak in 2002 as some insiders unloaded big positions. Bet they are sorry now.

Similar story with NRP but I think there was some insider selling early this year.

CNX is maybe the best coal play but little in the way of a divvy.

Yep, I remember the 1970's too. Clueless politicians with destructive agendas then, clueless pols with destructive agendas now. Some things never change.

England had to re-abandon the Gold Standard after WW-I because they over-valued the Pound relative to gold.

Needless to say, everyone with Pounds and any sense cashed them in for gold with the Bank of England.

England abandoned the Gold Standard, more or less, just before they ran out of gold.

Charles Rist, of the Bank of France, had told them they had priced the Pound too high, but they were too proud to listen. Stupidity rarely pays off in the long run.
