No doubt the evil NSA telephone screening system indexes phone numbers (heck, they ARE an index), just like Google indexes every word on the internet. Osama's number is just one of trillions, but when cross-linked to others it gives you a pretty good idea of who he's talking to, just like a Google search on 'terrorist' would turn up Osama bin Laden quite a few times.
