Will that non-scripted AI run faster out of Conroe's large, low-latency L2 cache or out of main memory on Athlon 64? How do you think Athlon 64's smaller L2 cache will affect minimum frame rates in games? Encoding and decoding benchmarks? Core Duo with a modest 667MHz FSB and 2MB L2 cache is already clock-for-clock as fast Athlon 64 according to the benchmarks at Anandtech and elsewhere. Do you expect Conroe and Merom to be slower than Core Duo in encoding/decoding? I've said it before, I don't expect Conroe and Merom to win EVERY benchmark. But it certainly looks like Conroe is going to win or tie in the vast majority of published benchmarks. In the end that is what most users are going to look at to measure performance and it likely won't be pretty for AMD.
