In what translation did you find the version you've given? Certainly, the quote does not find fault with the Old Testament. Jesus believed in every word of the Old Testament. He believed in Noah's ark. He believed in Adam and Eve. He believed in the story of Jonah. The message of Jesus is that the Old Testament is faultless. In other words, if Jesus existed and was one of your "mystics", then it is clear how limited was His understanding and how credulous was His mind. Jesus therefore said to them, "Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn't Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.
