Buffett...silver...commodities...all well and good. Unfortunately, knowing the past doesn't help with the future.
Of course, you can learn from the lessons. But that doesn't necessarily give an insight into the future.

The concept of buying at the bottom and being content with a nice ride is a lesson most of us probably wish we had learned a lot sooner in our "trading" lives. Even more important is understanding the need for capital preservation as a primary mandate and not something to simply consider.

As I stated....all well and good...

But what now? Where is the opportunity that the herd hasn't found? Or for that matter, is even looking at?Commodities...currencies...equities...energy...housing/RE... nothing appears to be suitable in this environment. Especially if one is not inclined to take on higher risk and through capital preservation to the wind. Nothing seems to offer a credible risk/reward. To me, for the last few months the stock market looks more like a giant short squeeze. If the opportunity is out there in the investing world...let me be the first to admit I simply don't see any vehicle worth investing in at this time.

As a side note...I started flipping Fla RE in 2001. Been a net seller since spring of last year. The realization that all good things must come to an end was always ingrained in my mind. To that end, I may not have caught the "top"...but I came darn close. I still find it hard to understand how so many people thought that RE was the new nirvana that never goes down. The stupidity and greed is astounding.

Great post! Some spend countless hours finding links to lame articles to bolster their own agenda. Sadly, a legend in their own mind ....
