It's nice to know that some good came out of a senseless event.

I always thought studios had armorers on the set whenever there were firearms, but the system and his naivete apparently failed poor Hexum.

My daughter also developed a fan relationship with John Schneider of the Dukes of Hazzard. I took her down to the studio where they filmed and we were able to visit his office even though he wasn't there. He had a Colt Single Action Army .45 in a western holster rig hanging on his office chair.

1. I assumed the gun was loaded.
2. I left it alone.
3. If Schneider had walked in and unloaded it in front of me so I could look it over, I would have reverted to rule #1 as soon as he handed it to me. I would have checked myself to see whether it was loaded.

All guns are always loaded.
