And perhaps a candidate that could unite the republicans. Problem is that with the exception of political junkies, Newt is viewed as corrupt in the delay sense by many.
What is most interesting about Newt is his relationship with Hillary. He had many nice things to say about her centrist views. He said that like him, she knew from first hand experience how divisive, partisan fights could ruin a presidency and do harm to the nation. Newt called on post election year 2007 to be a year of political compromise for both parties in order to achieve legislation for the public good through compromise. He is no Rovian.
