Actually the fact that Kerry didn't respond allowed O'Neill to be elevated to Kerry's standing. A simple toe to toe media event with Kerry on one side and the smearvets on the other...eye to eye...and the whole charade would have folded right before the eyes of America. We already have Kerry's CO saying that he shouldn't have signed that statement saying that Kerry didn't deserve his Silver Star. Imagine having the boatmates and the smearvets across the stage from one another. Kerry's former CO would have melted down right there in front of the cameras when confronted directly by eyewitnesses...and it would have been scored a huge coup for Kerry. JMHO, Orca
