I think we can set aside any pretense that administration policy on all manner of electronic surveillance isn't being brought to bear on political opponents, media critics, the press, everybody.

As has been in in the news in past months, Vietnam era draft dodgers living in Canada (and who have been entering and leaving the US with no problems until recently) are suddenly, as if by magic, being detained at the border.

This is of course to eliminate any danger of terrorism, nudge wink.

No but seriously, anyone who thinks people in this administration are going to "control themselves" with these powers is dreaming. It'll be pushed as far as possible, and then they'll back off (a bit) when such things are ventilated in the mainstream news.
