TJ, the speculator is extremely good for the world economy. It buys, drive prices high, thus causing companies to invest in new sources and infrastructure. Speculator cashes in when the price is high and seeks another target.

This was done to tech. Until it reached a point that we had tech that needed -in 2000- 10 years to digest all the tech that was developed. (I think we have tech to digest up to the end of the NEXT decade.)

Now this is being done to materials. It is different than tech. It's been neglected for the last 23 years when the debt crisis stated in Mexico in (1982)

It also takes longer to develop new sources of materials and it is not about writing SW code or develop new business plans based on faster microchips.

The present boom in commodities has just started. It takes a long tome to bring new oil sources: Libya, Iraq and Iran previously embargoed.

It takes a long time for CVRD to improve infrastructure to ship more iron ore and seek copper.

Or smelt aluminum now that copper is too high. Here in Brazil to develop and increase ethanol production, build roads, airports, harbors and channel and railways to transport the materials it will take a good 10 to 15 years of investments.

By then India China will be needing all the stuff...

We should make statues for the speculators since they are the lever that forces the market into action...

Thank you for the good job you've done with petrobras! Now it has money to go seek natural gas and become self-sufficent.

I think one day you'd be speculating with wood...
