No they didn't know Bush was that dishonest. They did not. And they did not know Cheney was fixing the intelligence to fool them. They did not. Some may have suspected and Kerry certainly didn't entirely trust Bush, but what was he going to do, call Bush a liar without any proof? Besides, Kerry has always been for making sure Saddam was disarmed. Kerry made a mistake, but it was not malicious and came with grave scepticism which he expressed when he cast that difficult vote.
