You are going off on a tangent. The point is that if the federal government was so concerned about American's plight at the pump, they could suspend the 18.5 cent excise tax immediately.

In the first place, the Federal Government is not concerned about America's so-called plight at the pump. The elected officials are concerned about the mid-term elections. Sen Frist is so out of touch that he thinks a $100 bribe will fix things.

And I suppose we'll just add it to the debt for someone else to pay. Very Jeffersonian of you. Wait a minute...Jefferson didn't believe in federal debt.
