u got the basic phonetics right!!!
NO OFFICIAL INDIAN LANGUAGE... there is a national language - Hindi, and every state has its own language...

A typical student studies 3 languages in school : English, Hindi, and the state language.

Spanish is phonetic. Pretty much any word you can pronounce, you can spell.
