Alligators may be repelled by a simple suppressant or repellant spray that while not always fatal to the Alligator can induce a severe allergic response. It is nicknamed "Handbag" or "Alligator Shoe" and comes in 00, BB, 0.22 in., .32 in., .38 in. and .45 inch sizes. The repellant device fits in the pocket of a jacket or a handbag, valise. It ejects a metallized spray at high velocity that deters attack by the animal. Dick Cheney has always carried Alligator Spray with him on his many trips down south and recommends it highly. Some people are experimenting with repellants that are similar to devices used to control cattle, or tasers. These work after a fashion but near water can be dangerous to the person who gets wet. Also when the animal so connected clamps onto yourself, it completes a circuit. This can work against the user.
